The father of the art nouveau movement was a man named Alphonse Maria Mucha. The Alphonse Mucha collection celebrates some of the greatest works he completed during his lifetime. Mucha was active during the art nouveau movement between 1890 and 1910, a time period generally viewed as the height of that movement. Most importantly though, his works featuring beautiful women in various poses are considered catalysts for the movement as a whole.
Outside of his depictions of beautiful women, Mucha was immensely active in contributing through various other art forms. Starting in 1895 he completed a variety of ad posters, paintings, and book illustrations that catapulted his career, but he was also involved in the design of postage stamps, banknotes, and even government documents for the newly independent Czechoslovakia following World War I, up until his death in 1939.
The new Mucha Collection will feature a total of six designs released by Anonymous Mint. Each design will feature a total of four silver rounds. For example, in addition to the 1 oz Proof Mucha Collection Job Silver Round, there is a 1 oz antique version, 5 oz antique version, and a 5 oz proof version.
Each 1 oz Proof Mucha Collection round has a beautiful mirrored proof finish, with brilliantly clear background fields. There is edge lettering of the serial number on each of the individual silver rounds, and the Certificate of Authenticity included in your purchase reflects that same number.
On the obverse of all 1 oz Proof Mucha Collection Job Silver Rounds youll find his iconic Job image. Job was the image of the so-called Mucha Woman, whose swirls of abundant hair were intertwined with the smoke from the cigarette in her right hand. Job is now a registered trademark for the Joseph Bardou Company that produces cigarette paper.
The reverse of all Mucha Collection Silver Rounds will feature a portrait of Mucha himself. Taken from a larger photograph of the artist seated in a chair, youll see only his face in the portrait along with engravings identifying the series, his birth/death years, and the purity, metal content, and weight of the round.
