Alphonse Maria Mucha was born in Moravia in the Austrian Empire, now Czech Republic, in July 1860. He would go on to become a famed Czech art nouveau painter and decorative artist who is considered by many to be the father of the art nouveau movement. He was an active artist, creating new designs and paintings up until his death in 1939.
Other than his advertisements with beautiful women, Mucha was immensely active in contributing through various other art forms. Starting in 1895 he completed a variety of ad posters, paintings, and book illustrations that catapulted his career, but he was also involved in the design of postage stamps, banknotes, and even government documents for the newly independent Czechoslovakia following World War I.
On the obverse of all 1 oz Proof Mucha Collection Champagne Silver Rounds youll find the beautiful image of Champagne. Rather than the full-length figure often depicted in other works, a close-up visual of the Mucha Woman was chosen for this design.
The reverse of each of the Mucha Collection Silver Rounds includes a portrait of the artist himself. Mucha would launch his artistic career in 1895 with an ad sketch for a local playhouse, which eventually led to commission for his Job design, the first feature in the Mucha Collection. He was active in the arts until his death in 1939.
The new Mucha Collection will feature a total of six designs released by Anonymous Mint. Each design will feature a total of four rounds. For example, in addition to the 1 oz Proof Mucha Collection Job Silver Round, there is a 1 oz antique version, 5 oz antique version, and a 5 oz proof version.
