Note: These Morgan rounds are shipped in their originally sealed 20-count tubes if ordering in larger quantities
The United States Mint produced the Morgan Silver Dollar from 1878 to 1904 with an additional year of production in 1921. The Morgan Silver Dollars were the first dollar coins to be minted after the Coinage Act of 1873 caused the value of silver to depreciate to an unprecedented low. As a tribute to the this unique coin, JM Bullion is pleased to present a special edition Morgan Copper Round.
Round Highlights:
Although the real coin was composed from 90% pure silver, each commemorative round has been privately minted from 1 avoirdupois ounce of 99.9% pure copper. All copper rounds are guaranteed to arrive in newly minted condition and as a protective measure, each round will be shipped in either a sealed packet or its original roll of 20. Customers are advised that while this round was modeled after an existing coin, it has no actual face value and cannot be used as actual currency.
Prominently displayed across the front of the round is Morgan’s rendition of Lady Liberty. In Morgan’s portrayal, Liberty’s face is turned in profile with her hair is styled in loose curls. She is also depicted wearing a number of headpieces including a pileus, a wreath of laurel leaves and a headband bearing her name. Surrounding Liberty in a circular border is the phrase “E Pluribus Unum” along with the series of thirteen stars in honor of the thirteen original colonies. The only exception to Morgan’s original design is the omission of the coin’s mintage date.
While the front of the round attempts to preserve Morgan’s original artwork, the reverse side offers its own stylized version of the heraldic eagle, consisting of a winged shield. Beneath the shield sits the abbreviation of our nation’s name “USA,” while our nation’s flag waves proudly above it. The patriotic motif is further enhanced by the three stars to the left and right of the shield. Lastly, inscribed near the top and bottom edge of the round are its purity and weight respectively.
