The Intaglio Mint has a distinctive approach to silver round design. From American history to world history, the mythical realm to the real world, Intaglio draws inspiration for its designs from countless different sources. One of its most popular collections of the last several years is the Molon Labe Series. Today, 1 oz Molon Labe Silver Rounds with the Type X design are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Round Highlights:
The Molon Labe Series is one of the most in-depth from Intaglio Mint. Now on its 10th design, each release has looked at a different phase of the battle between Sparta and the mighty Persian Empire. The very name of the series is based on the Ancient Greek phrase of the same name, which translates to English as “come and take it.”
All of the 1 oz Molon Labe Silver Rounds available here come with the Type X design. The tenth issue of the collection, these silver rounds are available individually in flips or by multiples of 20 rounds in protective tubes.
The obverse side of Molon Labe Silver Type X Rounds comes with a depiction of King Leonidas of Sparta. As the Battle of Thermopylae turned against the vastly outnumbered Spartans and their Greek allies, Leonidas dismissed some 7,000 Greek soldiers to return to Greece and prepare for the next battle. He and his 300 elite Spartan warriors remained behind to make a last stand against the 100,000-man Persian Army. As the battle wound down, King Leonidas and his Spartans were overwhelmed and every last man was killed. This design shows Leonidas overcome by arrows and the number of Persians.
On the reverse of 1 oz Molon Labe Silver Rounds is an image of the mint seal for Intaglio Mint. The column at the center takes the shape of the letter I. Around this, you will find the full name of the mint with a beaded border. The background field has a swirling pattern with the identifying hallmarks engraved along the outer edge of the field. Each round has a date mark noted in Roman numerals.
