The origins of the Navy actually predate independence by almost a year. On 26 August 1775, the assembly of the colony of Rhode Island sent its delegates to the Continental Congress in Philadelphia to request that a fleet of sufficient force for the protection of these colonies be established. The U.S. Navy’s creation and development extended over nearly a quarter of a century, from the American Revolution to the Quasi-War with France, and proceeded in the face of numerous political, philosophical, and economic obstacles. MK Barz and Bullion created this gorgeous silver round to honor one of America’s greatest armed forces. Today, JM Bullion offers you the 1 oz MK Barz Navy Silver Round!

On Friday, October 13, 1775, meeting in Philadelphia, the Continental Congress voted to fit out two sailing vessels, armed with ten carriage guns, as well as swivel guns, and manned by crews of eighty, and to send them out on a cruise of three months to intercept transports carrying munitions and stores to the British army in America. This was the original legislation out of which the Continental Navy grew and as such constitutes the birth certificate of the navy. The Continental Navy grew into an important force. Over the course of the War of Independence, the Continental Navy sent to sea more than fifty armed vessels of various types. The navy’s squadrons and cruisers seized enemy supplies and carried correspondence and diplomats to Europe, returning with needed munitions. The precious metals industry is saturated with a lot of bullion coins, bars, and rounds which lack historical relevance and legacy. This silver round is a standout addition to any portfolio of hard assets it would find itself in!
