One of the most feared mythical creatures in human history has been the Kraken. At a time when mankind understood only a fraction about life on land, and little to nothing about what lie beneath the waves of the oceans, the Kraken was a sea monster that struck fear in the hearts and minds of sailors. Today, the 1 oz Kraken Silver Round from Anonymous Mint is available from JM Bullion in BU condition.
Round Highlights:
- Contains 1 oz of .999 pure silver.
- Available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.

Anonymous Mint has created truly unique and beautiful silver rounds in this 1 oz Kraken Silver Round. Designed by Anonymous Mint artist Julie Lindquist, the round brings this ancient mythological creature to life in stunning fashion on the obverse.
The Kraken is today associated with pirate tales from the Caribbean, but it actually originated as a beast to be feared by Viking sailors traversing the icy Atlantic Ocean waters between Norway and Greenland. At one point in history, it was even classified taxonomically in the First Edition of the System Naturae by Carolus Linnaeus as a cephalopod.
Lindquist’s obverse design features a massive Kraken emerging from the waters to devour a Viking longboat. As the ship is snapped in half by the beast, you can see the hapless sailors falling overboard into the frigid waters.
The reverse offers Anonymous Mint’s take on the heraldic eagle. An owl was chosen as the mint’s official symbol because it “represents wisdom, intelligence, mystery, transition, secrets, and protection.” The bird is featured with its wings spread wide, as the American bald eagle often is, with arrows in its talons. There are even 13 stars arranged in a grouping over its head, with the words “Anonymous Mint” engraved below.
Anonymous Mint designed and created these Brilliant Uncirculated 1 oz Kraken Silver Rounds. BU rounds have no signs of wear and tear, but may possess minor flaws such as breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks.
