One of the most popular design concepts for copper rounds is the use of historic US coin designs. While you are no doubt familiar with designs on the US Eagle gold denominations and US silver dollars, you might not be familiar with some of the historic penny designs from the United States. Among those, the Indian Head Penny was a popular, long-running design. Right now, 1 oz Indian Head Penny Copper Rounds are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Round Highlights:
Each 1 oz Indian Head Penny Copper Round available here comes with designs that replicate the 1859 visuals from the Indian Head Cent. The copper rounds are available individually in plastic flips, with multiples offered in protective tubes of 20 copper rounds or boxes of 500 copper rounds. The box holds 25 tubes of 20 rounds each.
The Indian Head Cent was introduced by the United States in 1858. The designs on the obverse and reverse of the coins came from James B. Longacre who was then serving as the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. Believe it or not, the Indian Head Cent design was the one in use right before the current US penny design. This image was featured in the US penny from 1858 to 1909 when the Victor David Brenner depiction of President Abraham Lincoln was introduced, a design that is still in use today.
Obverse designs on 1 oz Indian Head Penny Copper Rounds, you will find a depiction of Liberty in left-profile relief. In this design based on James B. Longacre’s original images, Liberty is featured with a feathered headdress. To better replicate the Indian Head Penny designs, these copper rounds have inscriptions of the nation of issue and a random date mark from the Indian Head Penny era.
Reverse visuals on Indian Head Penny Copper Rounds include a replica of Longacre’s design for the reverse side of the Indian Head Cent. This design includes the face value at the center with the US national shield above. There is an oak wreath encircling the field and you will also find the identifying hallmarks of the copper round on this face.
