One of the most popular silver dollar coins from the United States Mint circulation coinage was the Peace Silver Dollar. The Golden State Mint (GSM) offers its own unique take on the image of Liberty from the Peace Silver Dollar as part of its Silver Shield Collection of silver rounds for sale. The 1 oz Freedom Girl Silver Shield Round is currently available to you online for purchase from JM Bullion.
Round Highlights:
The Peace Silver Dollar from the United States Mint was first issued in 1921 to commemorate the end of the “War to End all Wars.” World War I had halted a lot of silver coin production in the United States, and following its conclusion in 1918, Congress authorized the United States Mint to resume the production of Peace Dollars.
Designer Anthony de Francisci used his own wife as the inspiration for a new take on the Goddess of Liberty, better known to Americans as Lady Liberty. The US Mint had until 1921 to begin coining millions of silver dollars. Originally, the Morgan Dollar design reemerged, but the Peace Dollar was ready for production by the end of 1921.
In the 2018 1 oz Freedom Girl Silver Shield Round design, you’ll find a beautiful and free-flowing take on de Francisci’s Peace Dollar image of Liberty. This vision of Lady Liberty is a true testament to the freedom and peace envisioned with the end of World War I. Her flowing hair cascades over her shoulders and into her face as a gentle breeze blows it across her figure. She has a calm look on her face and there is an engraving of the word “Freedom” on the left-hand side of the design edge.
The reverse of the Freedom Girl Silver Shield Round features the common design element for the series. A single sword stands on its point in the center and is immediately surrounded by an ornate design field. Around the outer edge are the flames of a bright sun while engravings identify the name of the collection and the round’s year of issue, weight, purity, and metal content.
