The Ends of the Earth design in the Finding Silverbug Island Series is the latest design in a collection that launched in 2015. The rounds feature a 2019 date mark on the obverse field and share the same common reverse used throughout the series.
Countless ancient civilizations believed that Earth was a flat, disc-shaped environment with the landmasses of the world floating on the oceans. It was believed, and indeed feared, that approaching the ends of this disc could result in plummeting off the face of the planet to certain doom.
The obverse of the 1 oz Ends of the Earth Silverbug Island Silver Rounds features a small sailboat navigating calm waters on a sunny, partly cloudy day. What those sailors may not know is they are sailing perilously close to the edge of the earth. The calm day hides the threat that looms as the waters rush off the edge of the world. In the foreground, an open chest of silver coins is all but doomed as it reaches the edge of the waterfalls.
On the reverse side of 1 oz Ends of the Earth Silver Rounds, you will find the common design element for the series. Here, ships sail around Silverbug Island. Some of those ships have struck silver in the wrong way, crashing on silver coral reefs and sinking. It is a fate those sailors are no doubt willing to risk in search of silver and wealth.
