The current state flag of North Carolina was adopted on March 9, 1885, replacing an earlier design from 1861. The flag consists of a red stripe and a white stripe with a blue union, mirroring the design of the United States flag. This similarity reflects North Carolina’s status as one of the original thirteen colonies and its commitment to the Union.
On the obverse of Colorized Scottsdale North Carolina State Flag Silver Bars are the mint name, logo, and hallmarks. The Scottsdale Lion is set on the right side of the design field, while the name Scottsdale Mint is engraved along the left side of the field. At the top of the bar are the weight, metal content, and purity of the bar.
The reverse side of 1 oz Colorized North Carolina State Flag Silver Bars features the state flag of North Carolina. At the center of the blue union are two dates of significant importance to North Carolina’s history. The top date, May 20, 1775, commemorates the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. According to local tradition, this was the first declaration of independence from British rule in the American colonies, although its authenticity is debated by some historians. The bottom date, April 12, 1776, marks the Halifax Resolves, which authorized North Carolina’s delegates to the Continental Congress to vote for independence from Great Britain.
