Located in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Scottsdale Mint is one of America’s leading private mints. Scottsdale is responsible for producing gold and silver bullion coins on behalf of several small nations around the world, and also produces a line of unique silver bullion collections designed in house. The latest is the State Flag Series. Today, 1 oz Colorized Scottsdale Alaska State Flag Silver Bars are available at JM Bullion.
Bar Highlights:
The Alaska state flag design was the result of a contest held in 1927 by the Alaska Department of the American Legion. The winning design was created by Benny Benson, a 13-year-old Alaska Native boy from an orphanage in Seward. Benson’s design was chosen from among 142 submissions and was officially adopted on May 2, 1927. The young designer received a $1,000 scholarship and an engraved watch for his winning entry.
All 1 oz Colorized Scottsdale Alaska State Flag Silver Bars available here come with individual capsules. Like other bars in the series, this bar features colorization on the reverse side that brings the beauty of the Alaskan flag to life with appropriate colors.
The obverse of the Colorized Scottsdale Alaska State Flag Silver Bar comes with the identifying hallmarks of the bar. This field includes the Scottsdale Lion logo on the right side of the bar, with half of the lion’s face on the field. The left side includes the engraving of the mint name, with the identifying hallmarks at the top.
On the reverse side of 1 oz Colorized Alaska State Flag Silver Bars, you will find a replication of the Alaskan flag. The Alaska state flag features a simple yet meaningful design that has represented the Last Frontier since 1927, decades before Alaska achieved statehood. The flag consists of eight gold stars forming the Big Dipper constellation and Polaris (the North Star) on a dark blue field. This design, with its celestial imagery, effectively captures the essence of Alaska’s northern location and natural beauty.
