The nativity of Jesus is an account of the night when Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem. The son of the virgin Mary, betrothed to Joseph, the pair actually lived in the town of Nazareth. When Herod the Great calls for a census of every man, woman, and child, the family is forced to return to the Joseph’s town of birth to be counted.
Arriving late on the night of December 24th, according to the modern Gregorian calendar, Joseph and Mary find no rooms left at any of the inns in the tiny town of Bethlehem. Instead, the innkeeper gives them space in the barn alongside the animals. Here, Jesus is born in a humble manger with his parents and animals for company.
On the obverse of the Colorized Baby Jesus in Manger Silver Round you’ll find a humble barn in the center of the design, with baby Jesus lying in his manger under its roof. Mary is to the left with Joseph on the right. A few animals and a shepherd boy are visible just outside the barn, while the nighttime hillside in the background has the darkened homes of Bethlehem’s residents.
The Star of Bethlehem shines bright in the sky in the background field, lighting the way for three magi riding into to town on their camels in the right-field of the background. The colors on this side range from bright white silhouettes to shades of blue and black to reflect the dark of night.
On the reverse is the engraving of the round’s weight, purity, and metal content. Each round ships in a protective capsule and velvet pouch. The capsules feature loops so you can hang this round from the tree at each Christmas.
