The Chinese Mint debuted its Chinese Panda bullion coin programs in 1982 and 1983. The gold bullion version of the coin was issued first in 1982 and featured four weights with standardized Troy oz measurements and exacting purity standards at .999 pure content. The first silver coins were issued as proof specimens rather than Brilliant Uncirculated specimens.
Early versions of the Chinese Silver Panda had weights that were less than 1 Troy oz of silver and the purity was, at times, less than 90% silver and at other times pegged exactly at 90% silver. It was not until 1989 that the Chinese Mint offered the first Chinese Silver Panda with exactly 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver content.
Obverse imagery on the 1 oz Chinese Silver Panda is ever-changing. The only date marks in the series that ever had the same design were the 2001 and 2002 specimens, with the 2002 coin repeating the 2001 design. This has not happened since, so you will most likely find a wide range of possible designs.
Reverse depictions for the 1 oz Chinese Silver Panda Coin focus on the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. The central structure in the Temple of Heaven Complex, this design has featured on the coins every year since 1983.
These 1 oz Chinese Silver Panda Coins are perfect specimens with a Mint State 70 certification from the NGC. Coins in this condition showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws of any kind present on the coins. Date marks in this listing are chosen at random. We cannot guarantee a particular date and corresponding design. If you buy more than one, please note you may receive matching dates and designs on your coins.
