The 1 oz Stax Silver Rounds from Chautauqua Silver Works are available in two different versions. There is a proof 1 oz round with brilliant, mirrored background fields and frosted design elements. These particular 1 oz Chautauqua Silver Works Stax Silver Rounds are the Brilliant Uncirculated version of the rounds.
While the collectible proofs have low mintage figures and individual serial numbers on the edges, these Stax Silver Rounds in BU condition have some proof features. Most notably, their design has a slightly frosted appearance and the round is available with a higher mintage figure to accommodate investors who value buying silver in large volumes.
On the obverse of the 1 oz Chautauqua Silver Works Stax Silver Round is the image of a powerful bull. This bull is captured in front-facing relief with a stern look on its face and powerful horns on its head. The bull has a ring through its nostrils that has the engraving of “999 Fine Silver.” Engravings include “Stax” at the top and “Chained No More” at the bottom of the design rockers. Surrounding Stax is a chain with broken links toward the bottom of the design.
The reverse of Chautauqua Silver Works Stax Silver Rounds includes the common design element used on many rounds from Kinney. The bullseye design includes features of a rifle’s scope with engravings of the “Bullseye” and “Ag 47” in the center, other markings in the scope’s bullseye include the weight, purity, and metal content of the round, as well as the mint name and the phrase “One More Ounce – One Less Fetter.”
