Coin Highlights:
Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins debuted with only a 1 oz option in 1979. From 1979 to late 1982, the Gold Maple Leaf contained .999 pure gold content and was available in just this one weight. Starting in November 1982, the coins were struck with .9999 pure gold content instead. That same year saw the introduction of 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins. Later additions included the 1/2 oz coin in 1986, the 1/20 oz coin in 1993, and the 1 Gram coin in 2014.
On the obverse of all 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s portrait has been updated three times during the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf’s lifetime. Coins issued from 1979 to 1989 have Arnold Machin’s portrait of Elizabeth II at the age of 39. From 1990 to 2004, the coin’s featured Dora de Pedery-Hunt’s portrait of the Queen at the age of 64. All coins dated 2005 and later have Susanna Blunt’s fourth-generation image of the Queen at the age of 79.
The reverse of Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins features the same design each year. The sugar maple leaf, Canada’s official symbol, appears on this side in the design Walter Ott created in 1979.
These 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available to you in Mint State 69 condition. Coins with this grade have full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detracting flaws. The only acceptable flaws at this level are minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
JM Bullion offers these Gold Maple Leafs in a random year listing. We cannot hand-pick specific date marks and if you buy more than one coin, please note that it is possible you’ll receive several coins with the same date mark.
