Each of the 1 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle Coins available in this product listing at JM Bullion comes in a presentation box with a Certificate of Authenticity from the United States Mint. These coins are offered here from random years, with the possible date marks including 2006 to 2008 and 2011 to present. Please note that we do not guarantee a date or design in advance, and as a result, you may receive coins with matching dates and reverse designs when you buy multiples.
The highest mintages in the history of the Burnished Gold Eagle Series come from the three-year period prior to the stoppage in production that took place in 2009 and 2010. Amidst record demand for gold bullion in those two years, the US Mint shifted all available gold blanks to the production of BU Gold Eagles.
Obverse design elements on Burnished American Gold Eagles feature the front-facing portrait of Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this visual shows Liberty with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The background includes sun rays, the U.S. Capitol Building, and a ring of 50 stars.
Reverse designs on 1 oz Burnished Gold Eagles include either the original family of bald eagles design from Miley Busiek or the new portrait of an American bald eagle. Please note, that the most common design is likely to be Miley Busiek’s family of bald eagles design. This is found on all date marks through mid-2021, with the new design only found on 2021 Type 2 coins and coins issued from 2022 onward.
