The Norse God Series is a brand-new offering that features a total of 10 rounds. The program features two different weights, with five total obverse designs. There are five 1 oz rounds and five 5 oz rounds available, with one round from each weight available for the gods Odin, Thor, Hel, Freya, and Loki.
All 1 oz Antique Norse God Series Loki Silver Rounds feature a mirrored, proof finish with antique highlights that add to the design features. The inclusion of antiquing adds subtle warmth and depth to the overall design, enhancing its appearance.
On the obverse of these rounds you’ll find the image of Loki, the shape-shifting Norse god. Depending upon the sources you read, Loki would occasionally assist the other Norse gods, or he would use his shape shifting ability to maliciously disrupt the endeavors of the other gods. He is the father of Hel, Goddess of Death, as well as many other Norse characters.
The reverse of the 1 oz Antique Norse God Series Loki Silver Round is the image of one of Odin’s Valkyrie. The Valkyrie were a band of maiden warriors chosen by Odin to be the selectors of the dead. Valkyrie would ride in the skies above mankind’s battlefields, selecting who would live and who would die in wars over land and riches.
The Anonymous Mint conceived of this program with the assistance of designer Julie Lindquist. All of the artwork for these rounds comes from Howard David Johnson, whose designs were brought to life by sculptor Luigi Badia. Each round has edge lettering indicating its position in the striking order.
