As the United States population grew and its borders expanded in the 19th century, the nation needed the ability to cover vast stretches of ground quickly while offering protection to settlements, outposts, and caravans of people moving west. This job belonged to the men of the United States Cavalry.
All 1 oz Antique American Western Skulls Cavalryman Silver Rounds arrive inside of protective plastic capsules to preserve the condition of the round and make for easier display of your purchase. The rounds in this series all have a unique serial number engraved on the edges of the round and the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity reflects that same number.
The antique issues in this series are available in both the 1 oz and 5 oz silver weight options. The application of an antique polish provides any product with the appearance of ancient coinage. The weathered look gives the impression that the very cavalryman featured on this round could have been carrying it in his pocket as he traversed the American West protecting settlers and establishing outposts for the Army.
On the obverse of the 1 oz Antique American Western Skulls Cavalryman Silver Round is the image of a skeletal figure. This skull is missing an eye, likely lost in combat, and wears a patch over his right eye. The figure is dressed as a US Army Cavalryman wearing the traditional cavalry cap with a crossed-sword insignia.
The reverse of the Antique American Western Skulls Collection rounds all feature the fried eagle. This take on the heraldic eagle of the United States maintains the 13 stars, olive branch, arrows, and national shield, but this bird is a skeletal figure no longer part of this world.
