Right now, JM Bullion offers Pre-1933 $1 Liberty Gold Coins for collectors interested in truly unique pieces.

As the United States struggled to control the Great Depression, all Pre-1933 gold coins were recalled by the government to melt down and re-mint as bars. As a result, Pre-1933 gold coins such as this $1 Liberty Coin are extremely rare on the market.
The Pre-1933 $1 Liberty Gold Coins in this product listing are categorized as Type 1. This means that each coin was minted between 1849 and 1854. These coins were originally struck to offer Americans smaller $1 coins that existed among silver dollar currency at the time. As an Almost Uncirculated, AU, coin, these Liberty Gold Coins show only slight signs of wear. You may see these coins graded elsewhere using the Sheldon scale, with a numerical grade anywhere between 50 and 58.
On the reverse side of these coins is the image of Lady Liberty, featured in a left-profile relief as designed by James B. Longacre. Her image is encircled by 13 stars, representing America’s original colonies. The obverse features the face value of the coin, engraved as “1 Dollar,” and the year of minting in the center. Surrounding that image is a wreath, with the term “United States of America” above.
The United States Mint struck the majority of its Pre-1933 $1 Liberty Gold Coins at the Philadelphia Mint. Other branches, including Charlotte, New Orleans, and San Francisco, participated in production at times.
