Silver bars are commonly made through one of two processes: hand-pouring or stamping minted ingots. SilverTowne has seen a significant increase in the demand for hand-poured silver products in recent years. Hand-poured silver bars such as the 1 Kilo SilverTowne Poured Silver Bar are often coveted for their rustic finish and aesthetic appeal.
Each refinery and mint has its own process for producing a silver bar that is hand-poured. At SilverTowne, the physically manual process to produce the 1 Kilo SilverTowne Poured Silver Bar results in a high-quality product that takes a little longer to produce, but delivers in terms of quality.
Craftsmen at the refinery first melt .999 fine silver shot that is then poured into an appropriately sized graphite mold to form the bar. In this case, that graphite mold is properly sized to contain exactly 32.15 Troy oz, or 1 Kilo, of pure silver. After the bars cool, the engravings on the obverse side are hand-stamped into the surface of the bar.
Each of these 1 Kilo SilverTowne Poured Silver Bars has all of its important engravings featured only on the obverse face. This includes, from the top to the bottom of the bar vertically, the logo, weight, purity, and metal content of the bar along with the name of the refinery. The SilverTowne logo consists of a circle that features within its range the iconic prospector leading his donkey onward to their next hopeful destination.
The other engravings read “1 Kilo,” “.999,” and “Fine Silver.” The SilverTowne name is featured in its traditional script lettering with a pickax forming the capital “T” in the name SilverTowne. The reverse of all bars are left blank on purpose.
SilverTowne Mint originally started as a small coin shop in Winchester, Indiana in 1949. Within three decades it had grown to include a minting operation that was churning out silver matching the Highest Quality Standards for precious metal refining.
