Johnson Matthey is a British multinational corporation that was originally founded more than 200 years ago as a precious metals assayer. Founded in 1817, the company’s first major achievement came in 1852 when it was chosen as the official gold assayer of the Bank of England. Today, Johnson Matthey has discontinued its precious metals business arm, but its products are still readily available in the market.
All of these 1 Kilo Johnson Matthey Silver Bars are available to you inside of a shipping box. Johnson Matthey previously operated three precious metal refineries in North America, with one location in the United States and two in Canada. These particular 1 Kilo Silver Bars were originally produced at the Brampton, Ontario, Canada refining facility and feature the mark of the assayer’s office at Johnson Matthey’s Canadian facility.
On the obverse of 1 Kilo Johnson Matthey Silver Bars, you’ll find simple engravings that include the company logo, weight, purity, serial number, and assayer’s mark. The serial number is engraved vertically along the left side of the bar and features a one-letter, six-number code. The weight is engraved into the lower-left corner and the assayer’s mark is next to it in the lower-right corner and reads “Canada Assay Office” within its oval design. The Johnson Matthey logo at the top is found within a diamond with “JM” above the crossed pick-and-hammer symbol.
The reverse face of the 1 Kilo Johnson Matthey Silver Bars is left blank. These hand-poured silver bars were cast into molds and left to cool, with all engravings on the obverse side stamped into the bars at some point during the cooling process.
