The 1/4 oz Chinese Gold Panda was first issued by the Chinese Mint in 1982 when the series debuted with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/10 oz gold coins alongside this weight. From 1982 to 2000, the coins had lower face values in Yuan. The 1/4 oz Gold Panda was originally valued at 25 Yuan. In 2001, all of the face values were adjusted upward, with the 1/4 oz Chinese Gold Panda boosted up to 100 Yuan.

Either the PCGS or NGC issued the Mint State 70 certification to these coins as a result of the presence of full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind.
