The Chinese Gold Panda Coin was the third major gold bullion issue of the modern era when it was introduced in 1982. The Chinese Mint introduced the series with four weights that year, including 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold. In 1983, a 1/20 oz gold coin was also added to the collection. The largest of the fractional-ounce coins is the 1/2 oz gold option. Now, perfect-condition 1/2 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coins are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.

Chinese Gold Panda Coins are the third-oldest examples of modern gold bullion coin issues. The first was the South African Krugerrand released in 1967. Next came the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf in 1979. The introduction of the Chinese Gold Panda in 1982 was followed by a wave of new gold bullion issues in the 1980s to include American, British, and Australian gold bullion.
Over the course of its history, the Chinese Gold Panda has undergone various changes. For example, from its introduction in 1982 until 2000, the 1/2 oz Gold Panda had a face value of 50 Yuan. In 2001, the Chinese Mint adjusted the face values of all five weights in the series upward, resulting in 2001-2015 coins featuring a face value of 200 Yuan in the 1/2 oz gold weight. All 1/2 oz Gold Pandas were available until 2015, at which point the Chinese Mint transitioned the entire program to Grams from Troy oz.
Obverse imagery on the 1/2 oz Chinese Gold Panda has remained the same since 1982. On this face of the coin is a vision of the exterior of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This is the largest building in the Temple of Heaven Complex in Beijing and was built between 1406 and 1420.
Reverse designs on the 1/2 oz Gold Panda are what attract investors and collectors alike to this series. Here, a new image of the Giant Panda is featured with each new date mark. The only repeat design you will possibly find in this listing comes on the 2001 and 2002-dated coins as the 2002 coin repeated the design from the previous year.
These 1/2 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coins are available to you for purchase online in perfect condition. The coins are housed in PCGS or NGC protective plastic slabs and feature the MS70 grade. Coins in this condition showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws.
