Known as the “White Dove of the Desert,” San Xavier del Bac stands as a stunning example of Spanish Colonial architecture south of Tucson on the Tohono O’odham San Xavier Indian Reservation. Founded in 1692 by Father Eusebio Kino, the current church structure was completed in 1797 and features an ornate baroque facade with elaborate interior frescoes, statuary, and murals that blend European and indigenous artistic traditions.

All 1/2 Arizona Goldback Gold Notes are available here in new condition with protective currency sleeves for each note. The 1/2 Goldback is the smallest note in the series and is available individually in currency sleeves or in loose bundle packs of 100 notes.

The design of the 1/2 Arizona Goldback Gold Note comes with a depiction of a Spanish woman kneeling with a candle in her hand. San Xavier del Bac is featured in the background, with white doves flying overhead. Jesuit missionaries, led by the intrepid Father Eusebio Kino, ventured into the harsh Sonoran Desert regions of what is now Arizona beginning in the 1690s, driven by a dual mission to convert indigenous peoples and extend Spanish territorial claims. These spiritual pioneers faced incredible hardships, including extreme heat, scarce water, hostile terrain, and occasional resistance from native populations as they established a chain of missions and introduced European livestock, crops, and agricultural techniques.
