The smallest coin in the American Eagle Series from the United States Mint is the 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle. From America’s official gold bullion coin series, these affordable gold coins are available in both bullion and proof versions. The 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coin is available to you today online from JM Bullion from random years of production.
Coin Highlights:
The American Gold Eagle debuted in 1986 and featured four weights in the bullion program, along with a 1 oz proof coin. The latter offering eventually expanded to include all three fractional-weight coins in 1987 with the ½ oz and again in 1988 with the ¼ and 1/10 oz.
In this product listing you’ll find the 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coin available for purchase from random years of issue. The 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagle has been available since 1988, and only once during the subsequent three decades has it not been struck (2009). These coins are guaranteed to arrive in their original US Mint commemorative box with a Certificate of Authenticity.
JM Bullion cannot, however, guarantee the year of issue you’ll receive. The issue date will be determined by availability in our warehouse when your order is processed for shipping. These coins will feature mint marks. The 1/10 oz coins from 1988 to 1993 include the “P” mint mark of the Philadelphia Mint, while all subsequent strikings have the “W” mint mark of the West Point Mint.
On the obverse of the 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagles is that image of Liberty from Saint-Gaudens. He was commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt directly to revitalize American coinage, creating this Liberty design in 1907 for use on the $20 Gold Double Eagle coin.
The reverse side of the Proof American Gold Eagle coin features an image of a male bald eagle flying over the family nest. He clutches an olive branch in his talons, while the female is featured below standing guard over the nest and vigilantly watching the hatchlings within. Busiek created this design in 1986 specifically for the American Gold Eagle.
