The obverse side of all Proof American Gold Eagle coins features the design of Lady Liberty which Augustus Saint-Gaudens created for the $20 Gold Double Eagle. His vision of Liberty is one of strength and confidence. Her powerful figure walks toward the viewer on the coin’s surface with her hair and gown blowing in the breeze as she holds her torch high to light the way.
On the reverse of the 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle is the image of a family of bald eagles. The male is shown flying over the nest while a female is depicted guarding over the group of hatchlings within.
