Each of the 2016 5 oz Colorized ATB Fort Moultrie Silver Coins in this offering is in BU condition. Coins in BU condition exhibit no signs of wear and tear, though you may notice a range of minor flaws including breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, and contact marks from the coining process.
The 2016 5 oz Colorized ATB Fort Moultrie Silver Coin has beautiful real-life hues and tones added to the reverse design of the coin. This helps bring the scenes depicted on the reverse to life with stunning color, and gives you a unique piece to add to your collection.
The fort is named after William Moultri, commander of the 2nd South Carolina regiment. When British Admiral Sir Peter Parker attacked the fort with a fleet of nine warships, Moultrie’s four-hundred man detail was able to repel the British attack, driving the fleet from the area and striking the first successful blow for American independence.
On the reverse of the 2016 5 oz ATB Fort Moultrie Silver Coin is the image of a Revolutionary-era soldier running to raise the South Carolina militia flag during the onslaught of the British Navy in June 1776.
The obverse of all ATB Silver Coins includes the left-profile portrait of President George Washington, the first elected leader of the United States of America. His image appears on all circulation quarters, and was created in 1932 by John Flanagan based upon a 1786 bust of Washington.
All 2016 5 oz Colorized ATB Fort Moultrie Silver Coins are originally a product of the United States Mint. However, the US Mint does not colorize any of its products. These coins have had colorization added after purchase by Emporium Hamburg, and authorized third-party dealer in Germany specializing in the resale of unique, colorized pieces.
